Statesboro, GA - October 25, 2006 - A pair of women from the heart of GA, Fort Stewart (3d Infantry Division (Mechanized)) area, have answered a call they regard highly as their duty and honor; that call is for much needed support of Army soldiers and families. Tara Crooks and Starlett Henderson, military family members themselves, have pooled their experience, training, and business resources to form a new solution called Field Problems. Crooks and Henderson self-syndicate Field Problems, a military question and answer column, geared toward empowering individuals by providing real answers to common questions of today's military families. The column debuted in June 2006 on Military.com. Archives can be seen at www.FieldProblems.com, where readers can also offer their own tips and techniques for success in the military world.
“We have a direct connection to Army families’ needs and interests through our website http://www.FieldProblems.com and the bulk of our everyday lives,” says Crooks. Crooks is an Army active duty spouse of ten years and Henderson is a National Guard spouse of eleven years. Between them, they have a career’s worth of business and counseling expertise, military training and education, and real-world experience that their readers have come to depend on. Field Problems range from initial worries about moving to a new military installation to forming family bonds that withstand the rigorous work schedule and deployments that American soldiers undergo.
Henderson says, “It is important for military family members to avail themselves to all resources. There is no ‘one-size fits all’ delivery, so if we can not help them, we refer to them to a reputable resource that can.” Even as the 2007 Defense Appropriation budget provides for over $500 billion, there is still some question about adequate funding for support programs that military families really need. Field Problems desires to fill the impending gap and hopes to provide world-wide support of the Army community at-large. Crooks says, “If we can even help one military member by helping their family negotiate the move to their next duty assignment or calm a military mom’s nerves while their ‘baby’ is in Iraq, we will have done what we set out to do.”
Both Crooks and Henderson hope to eventually grow their partnership and offer workshops, Field Exercises, to military families worldwide.
