Aaron's affliction began around the age of four and might have lasted indefinitely if it had not been for his mother, Sharon Oberne. Relying on her motherly instincts, Mrs. Oberne had Aaron participate in water and musical therapy. Determined to erase the glazed look in her son's eyes, she kept her son involved in this unique therapy for five years.

"Is It Really Autism? Stepping Into the Light (The Aaron Oberne Story: a Nationally Recognized Daily Point of Light Award Winner)" is the true story of someone overcoming autism and being able to give back to one's community. In January 2004, Aaron received a Daily Point of Light Award from the Points of Light Foundation for contributing more than 1000 hours of community service at his local therapeutic recreational center.

Aaron Oberne is currently a college student majoring in mathematics education. He inspires to become a teacher so he can continue to give back to the community.
