The genesis for Mardini’s work began nearly a year ago after she decided to turn her hobby of jewelry design into a full-fledged business. Although her background of sales and marketing sharpened her business sense, Sandra’s creative sense was formed by the creativity of her childhood, gleaned from her artist father and gourmet chef mother. These ingenious parents encouraged her to experience different cultures through travel abroad in Europe and the Middle East.
Sandra’s inspiration for her unique design concepts springs from such eclectic sources as her travel abroad, a mood, a great song or even a simple sunset. That gold-filled pearl and Swarovski wire-wrapped necklace could have been inspired by the world of nature and/or the world of fashion and design. She painstakingly creates designs and hand-crafts her pieces in a studio in a Washington, D.C. suburb. The Collection is available by custom order and in many local boutiques in the D.C. area. It’s also been seen on ABC-TV out of Chicago and the “Washington Life Magazine” and “Daily Candy.”
Sandra believes that jewelry conveys more about a person’s inner spirit than you can imagine, projecting one’s emotions without uttering a word.
