The Global Compact ( http://www.tiny.cc/xZLEx ) asks companies to embrace, support and enact, within their sphere of influence, a set of core values in the areas of human rights, labour standards, the environment, and anti-corruption.
Neela Bettridge, a director of Article 13, said:
‘It is great that the new Secretary-General has a strong commitment to the UN’s engagement with the private sector and its efforts to advance the 10 principles of the global compact.’
‘There is nothing worse than not practising what you preach, said Neela. ‘As experts in the field and signatories to the Compact, it was only logical to apply this specialist knowledge to our own company.’
The company has set out a plan for implementing the changes required (for the full report click here http://www.tiny.cc/hm0OG), and sees it as an example for other companies who want to implement a programme.
‘We have already made good headway in most areas, and will be carrying our further changes to the company as we continue to grow’.
