Waters Edge Church, Yorktown Virginia is celebrating Valentines Day with a shocking new Sunday emphasis entitled, “Great Sex.” It’s all part of the church’s unique approach that’s geared toward changing the way people think about church. According to the church’s Lead Pastor, Stuart Hodges, “Sex is everywhere you look! TV shows are full of it. Commercials use it. Billboards flaunt it. Magazines even tell you how to do it. Everybody is talking about it. But for some reason, the last place you expect to hear about it is at church. Well, at Waters Edge, we’re going to change that for people!”

The church that’s less than four years old is already averaging over 600 attendees every week and meets at the Victory Family YMCA in Yorktown. Their Sunday services are packed full of energy and excitement and incorporate multimedia, drama, and a live band. Before services, attendees enjoy a hot cup of freshly brewed Starbucks coffee and a Krispy Kreme Doughnut. The service times are Sundays at 9:00 and 10:30.

Since the content of “Great Sex” is geared for adult audiences, the church is promoting their programs for preschoolers and kids. “We’re encouraging parents to involve their kids in WeeWorld for preschoolers and Kid Kraze for elementary age kids while they attend the service,” says Pastor Stuart Hodges. “I guarantee WeeWorld and Kid Kraze will be the best part of their kid’s week and first time guests even get a free gift for attending.”

The “Great Sex” emphasis begins on Sunday, February 11th just in time for Valentine’s Day and continues through March 4th. “This topic gives people a great reason to come to church,” according to Hodges. “We’re talking about real life stuff for real people. And the way I see it, everybody loves to talk about sex!”
