Composers Jeff Turzo and Matt Mahaffey Produce First full length CD Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs! For Hellogoodbye
LOS ANGELES, CA date - Noiselab Music (www.noiselabmusic.net), the two year-old music/sound design house founded by Composer/Creative Director Paul Rhim and Executive Producer Pinky Turzo, is on quite a run lately. First, the composing team of Scott Cutler and Anne Preven, were nominated for an Academy Award for the song "Listen" (co-wrote with Henry Krieger). The song, which was performed by Beyonce during the Academy Awards and is featured in the film Dreamgirls, also won the Critics Choice Award and was nominated for a Golden Globe. Then, Noiselab composers Jeff Turzo and Matt Mahaffey produced Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!, the first full length CD from indie rock act Hellogoodbye that has sold over 300,000 copies since its debut in August 2006. The first single "Here (in Your Arms)," has gone gold with over 500,000 copies sold.
"We've been friends with Scott and Anne for many years and are honored to work with them," said Pinky Turzo. "Today, many ad agencies and brands are looking for more than just music for a thirty second spot, but rather songs that can play an essential part of the product's overall branding in an array of media and clearly Scott and Anne can do that."
Turzo noted that in addition to spots, Noiselab also collaborates with Cutler and Preven for select long-form TV and film projects as well. In fact, Noiselab is currently music supervising a TV pilot called Pop School for the Oxygen Network. The music company is currently in talks to prominently feature Scott and Anne's songs in the show.
"We've known Pinky and Paul for a long time and have a lot of respect for them both personally and professionally," said Cutler. "While we've had some amazing success in pop music, we're also interested in exploring other outlets for our talent and that includes advertising and television. We're confident that with Noiselab we're in good hands."
Cutler and Preven first came together as members of the LA-based band Ednaswap. The band's signature song "Torn" became an international pop hit for Natalie Imbruglia. The pair also wrote "Sanctuary" for Madonna and co-wrote and produced Sinead O'Connor's "No Man's Woman."

When they're not composing for commercials Jeff Turzo and Matt Mahaffey have their own band/production team called Wired All Wrong. The duo recently teamed with the Huntington, CA-based alt-pop band Hellogoodbye to produce their first full-length CD Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!, which sold 47,000 copies in it's first week of release back in late August and reached #13 on Billboard's Top 200.
