For_Immediate_Release:

Dr. Howard Fingert, Senior Director, Signal Transduction Development Program at Pfizer Oncology will present on Safety Biomarkers, Regulatory Strategies, and Risk Management in Oncology IND Programs at GTCbio’s Rediscovering Biomarkers: Detection, Development & Validation Conference taking place on July 23-24, 2007 at the San Diego Marriott La Jolla in La Jolla, CA.

For clinical and regulatory strategies in oncology development, safety biomarkers are employed with broad applications. Laboratory results, used as safety biomarkers, can influence decision making at many levels during development of cancer treatments, including (1) protocol eligibility; (2) analyses to characterize the safety profile; and (3) treatment delivery, based on rules to modify or discontinue treatment. With the increasing applications of safety biomarkers in clinical studies, consideration must be given to unintended consequences, including limitations to dose delivery and determination of the recommended phase 2 dose. This presentation will review recent clinical experiences with cardiac safety biomarkers used to support development of oncology therapeutics.

GTCbio’s Rediscovering Biomarkers: Detection, Development & Validation Conference provides comprehensive coverage of a wide range of topics including Biomarker Application in Oncology Clinical Development, Drug Discovery, Development and Diagnostics of Biomarkers, Tools for Improving Measurement, Safety and Validation of Biomarkers, and Upcoming Technology and Trends.
