The Boy Scouts of America, Great Smoky Mountain Council is pleased to announce that Anthony Ingram has come onboard as the new District Executive for the Chehote District. This District, formerly called ScoutReach, is mainly comprised of the Knoxville, Tennessee Empowerment Zone (EZ).
Anthony is the youngest of 5 children and was born in Columbus, Georgia. He was both a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout (Troop 41) at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church and earned his Eagle Rank (w/palms) in 1977. He attended South Carolina State University -a HBCU located in Orangeburg, SC and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Professional Theatre and a minor in Spanish. Anthony has lived in Knoxville since 1984. Heis married to Joy Ingram and they have 2 children: Michelle and Aaron. His wife is a History Professor at PSTCC and is also pursuing a Nursing Degree from RSCC. They are members of Redemption Church International where they participate in various ministry teams including Choir, Youth, and Drama.
Anthony says: "I absolutely love what I do and am excited about working with the District Committee and all of the other leaders and volunteers to make the Chehote District the best District in East Tennessee. I decided to name the youth who become involved in Scouting in our area the "Chehote Champions" because that is how I want them to see themselves - as Champions who can and will overcome all of the challenges that life may throw at them."
The Great Smoky Mountain Council has served Knoxville and the East Tennessee region since 1915 and includes 21 counties segmented into 10 Districts. Our programs include: Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venture Crews, Explorer Scouts and Learning for Life Groups. The Scout Center is located at 1333 Old Weisgarber Road in Knoxville, Tn.
