Nicholas "Nicky B" Bennett - Living on a small island makes one open and vulnerable. No large spaces to shield you from outside influences. No canyons to echo your sound. So you sing your songs to the wind. Nicholas Bennett is young talented and vulnerable. Coming from a musical family this teenaged island boy sings of sweetness and heartbreak. Being Jamaican his music mixes the mystic sensuality of reggae with the smooth foreplay like grooves of R&B and Jazz. He is a graduate of Kingston College , one of the leading high schools in Jamaica with a rich history and strong tradition in Jamaica ’s popular and classical music movements. Passionate about making great music ‘Nicky B’ writes most of his material. He has written for artists like Beenie man, Elephant man, brick and Lace and Shar Jackson.
and one of his songs was considered for an LL Cool J project. No stranger to the stage Nicky B’s featured performances include performing in front of over 50,000 people at summer jam held in Germany, opening for Kanye West at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts and touring both Japan and France where he was well received . He recently recorded a song with rapper Lord Kossity entitled “Hotel Room” which is now the number one song in France and is featured on three other songs on Kossity”s album entitled Danger Zone
He has worked with his father, noted songwriter and producer Mikey Bennett who is known for his hits like Mr. Loverman , and Housecall featuring Shabba Ranks as well as other Jamaican producers including Don Carleon, Frank Nitty of trackmasters, sly and robbie, Tony Kelly, , Lenky, Danny Champaign and Baby G
The young Bennett made his recording debut a few years ago with the combination What It Feels Like to Be Loved, which featured Beenie Man. The song, according to Nicky B, came about at the spur of the moment. He was in the studio humming to a song when Beenie Man heard him, liked the vibe and they just sat down and put the lyrics to a beat that a Swedish producer had brought into the studio.
Nicky B is currently working on his debut album entitled R & D ( Rhythm and Dancehall) artists featured on the album so far include Beenie man, Bayc from T.O.K and voicemail
Counted among his influences are the old school sounds of Maxi Priest, Stevie Wonder, Barrington Levy , and Gladys Knight along with new school artists like Craig David, R. Kelly and Usher. Nicholas Bennett is singing in the island breezes, the world will hear.
