For_Immediate_Release:

Norm Coleman, a resident of Half Moon Bay and the author of the forthcoming play Ty Cobb: The Greatest Player that Ever Played the Game, will be one of three speakers at the Bay Area All-Star Memories event for the Society of American Baseball Research (SABR) at Lefty O’Douls in San Francisco on July 7. This event is in honor of the All-Star Game, which will be played in San Francisco on July 10.
Coleman, who, along with writing, is also an actor and photographer, has been performing his one-man show about baseball player Tyrus Raymond Cobb since 2006. He has performed at various organizations, including the Lions Club, the Rotary Club, the Kiwanis and several senior homes throughout the Greater Bay Area.
During the performance, Coleman will be taking on the role of Ty Cobb. He will speak about the players’ memories of the All Star Game, which Cobb was never able to participate in.
“Norm has exactly what it takes to make a character come alive” says Kathi Beerbohm, activity director at Sunrise Corp. in Belmont. “For those baseball fans who remember Ty Cobb, he has breathed new life to the first baseball player to be elected to Baseball’s Hall of Fame.”
The SABR event will be held at Lefty O’Douls Restaurant, 333 Geary St., in San Francisco from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday July 7. A registration fee of $21 is due by July 3. The program includes lunch, a raffle ticket, and a souvenir copy of Bay Area All-Star Memories, compiled by Chuck Nan. In addition to Coleman’s performance, other speakers are Chuck Nan and Mark Macrae.
