Software giant Microsoft just recently admitted that they were likely to take a US$1 billion earnings charge to fix hardware problems in Xbox 360 consoles.
The company has now been sued for the same console as a class-action suit says that the console unit damages gaming media (videogame CDs).
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District court for the Southern District of Florida and is claiming that the Xbox 360 gaming device makes the videogame CDs unusable with scratches.
The lawsuit further claims that thousands of Xbox 360 owners have been affected by and have complained to Microsoft about the problem.
Jack Evans, a Microsoft spokesman responded to this lawsuit in a statement: "Out of the millions of Xbox consoles in use, Microsoft has not received any widespread reports of Xbox 360s scratching discs."
Microsoft further states that they have a worldwide disc replacement program for games that they develop. The owner of the console can send them the damaged disc along with USD 20. Microsoft would deliver a replacement disc in return.
The company added that they also examine and repair consoles that consumers believe may have scratched discs.
