"I've lived in Sugar Land for over 25 years, and personally, I don't want to live anywhere else. We have a fantastic Community with so much to offer, and I wanted to a way to promote Sugar Land and Local Businesses. When we shop here and play here, we are promoting our city, which makes it a better place to live and a better place to raise our families." Local Businessman Mickey Mixon developed the Portal last year, and started operations in late January 2008.

A Portal means "Entrance" or is Sugar Land's doorway to the internet. When you log on to the internet, the portal should be your home page, the first place you see and use. Local businesses want to be included because they know their local customers are there. "I've owned several retail stores in the 80's and 90's in Houston. As retailers, we were always concerned when another mall or large store opened. We were afraid we would loose business. The Portal helps to keep Sugar Land Business in Sugar Land."

Local businessman Paul Ware, has accepted a partnership position with the company. "Paul has great experience in sales, sales management and training. His expertise in those areas is a great asset to the company, and as our sales team grows, his efforts will become more and more important."

Paul and I both consider ourselves to be not only local businessmen and entrepreneurs, but ambassadors of sorts for Sugar Land and the local community. Our homes are here, our families and relatives live here, our friends live here, we shop, politic, play, and go to church here. We see the Sugar Land Portal as not just a business, but a community asset that we can all be proud of.

Sugar Land Portal is also linked to a Worldwide Network of over 100 City Directories that also partner with the local community and with local business. This network helps to generate more internet exposure for Sugar Land, locally, nationally and worldwide.
