FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Turtle Airships, an international company with over 27 years activity in the Lighter-than-Air industry will revolutionize flying with a new type of aircraft; solar powered and biodiesel powered airships. Turtle Airships was one of five companies originally considered for the U.S. Department of Defense “WALRUS” airship program.

The company designs and will build Solar Powered amphibious airships that have a solid geodesic “turtle” shell of rigid aluminum and carbon fiber materials. The company’s very large airships will be able to fly 200mph carrying hundreds of passengers in unparalleled comfort and safety or hundreds of tons in cargo which can be delivered to any location on Earth without needing any airport runways.

Turtle Airships will introduce the new airship type in a Round-the-World solar powered flight during the summer of 2009. A prototype small airship will be flown eastward from the U.S. visiting numerous cities in Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Turtle Airships is the only company addressing the need for the worldwide aviation industry to change from using oil based fuels, to solar energy and biodiesel fuels. Jet airliners consume over $100 Billion in fuel each year. Exhaust from high altitude jets is considered to be a major contributing factor to Global Warming. The increasing demand for air transport has a directly damaging effect on the environment because of the need for more airports.

Modern Lighter-than-Air airships (not blimps or dirigible types) will revolutionize air transport, with phenomenal benefits to the environment. Lifted by non-flammable helium, airships use fractions of the fuels that are needed by airplanes, with increased safety.

Airships fly silently, and take off and land vertically. They do not need huge airports or runways to operate from. Because of their inherent large size, airships can carry enormous arrays of solar cells, generating enough electricity directly from sunlight to fly on solar power alone. Unlike airplanes airships fly at low altitudes and so they are able to use biodiesel fuels for back-up power systems.

Airships are part of a potential $ Trillion dollar global industry with applications in a multitude of commercial and military markets. Turtle Airships will operate large airships as “flying cruise ships” in the travel industry and will manufacture thousands of airships for air transport of cargo.

Turtle Airships will create and run an airship academy to train pilots and other airship personnel from around the world. The company will enter into joint partnerships with other large companies, and work with economic development agencies of many nations in order to become the world leader in the airship industry.

A primary goal of Turtle Airships is to use airships configured as “flying hospitals’ to deliver humanitarian aid relief around the world to victims of natural and man made disasters.
