Deccan Chargers, the most explosive batting line up in IPL tournament have lost again. Thousands of Hyderabad fans were disappointed after the Kings IX very comfortably discharged the Deccan Chargers, winning the match by 7 wickets. Bar Rohit Sharma and Captain Laxman none of the other batsmen have troubled the scoreboard much. Gilchrist, Gibbs and Afridi all were out cheaply trying to hit one too many shots.

Venugopal Roa did not have a clue what he was doing out in the middle and got run out when there was absolutely no run. The Chargers need to put in a lot of thought in understanding the Twenty20 format of the game, they need to understand that its not all about trying to hit every ball out of the park, but should look at building partnerships. Laxman and Rohit Sharma are the only players that seem to exhibit some kind of understanding in this form of the game. Although Laxman had some success as a batsman he failed once again as a captain. The choice of local players should be in question, especially that of Venu Gopal Rao and Ojha. Despite failing in all the games Rao seems to be the player of choice ahead of Ravi Teja who averages 48+ in first class cricket, why Ojha was picked in this game will still remain a million dollar question, Ojha didn’t bat nor bowl in the entire match. Rohit Sharma batted brilliantly for his 76* hitting 10 fours and 2 sixes, had he had support of at least one of the top order players the Chargers would have come home triumphant. On the other hand Yuvraj Singh’s captaincy was brilliant, his field placement was precise and bowlers bowled to the field.
