Noted Indian author and journalist Oswald Pereira has been chosen as the Red Room Rising Star this week beginning Monday June 1, 2009. He is being featured on the home page of http://www.redroom.com as the Rising Star for the entire week. Red Room is the online home of many of the world's greatest writers. Its 2000 authors include such luminaries as Barak Obama, Maya Angelou, Po Bronson, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert. Other notable authors include Salman Rushdie, Khaled Hosseini, Normon Mailer and Jane Smiley.

Oswald Pereira's debut novel, Beyond the Newsroom was published in January 2007. The novel describes the unholy alliance between the media, the mafia and the government. Oswald completed writing his second novel Revenge of the Naked Princess recently and is searching for a publisher. The novel captures the dark age of forced religious conversions in India in the 16th century. This is the first Indian novel on forced religious conversions.

Oswald has more than 25 years' experience in journalism and communications. He has worked for leading Indian publications including the Times of India, Outlook and Financial Express. He was among the founding team of Outlook. He has been editor of niche publications on infrastructure and defence. More recently, he set up his own editorial practice. Among his clients are multilateral agencies. He is also an English language trainer.
