A local Boston Pizza is trying to harness the power of social media to gain a visit from basketball superstar Shaquille O'Neal. Boston Pizza Pen Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario has agreed to donate 10% of sales from Mr. O'Neal's visit to the Niagara Peninsula Childrens Centre located in St. Catharines.

"The Childrens Centre does so many great things for the Niagara Region, we're trying to do as much as we can to help out" says Ron Doi franchisee for the Boston Pizza. "We already sponsor their Sports Celebrity Dinner and support many of their other initiatives" Doi adds.

Shaquille O'Neal is already known as an active user of social media networks such as Facebook and Twitter. One of the reasons that Doi decided to use the social media to make this happen. "In the past, people never had the mediums to reach out to these celebrities to ask them to do something. As active social media users ourselves, it seemed like a greeat idea to reach out to Shaq in this manner".

Boston Pizza Pen Centre has started a Facebook group to help promote this endeavour. They are asking everyone to join and invite friends and family to join as well.

"We'd like to have as many members as possible to get Shaq to come visit. I think it would be great for the community and the Childrens Centre!" says Doi.
