Butler's Music Guy Kevin Burton Smith has had great success in attracting excellent acoustic music to Butler's, making them a natural partner for DesertSong Productions. Together, they are destined to elevate the musical culture of the Antelope Valley.

The first hour of this monthly series is an Open Mic, allowing artists from near and far to display their original compositions and performance skills. After that, the headliner takes over to complete a very satisfying musical evening.

This month's main act has a long history of bringing joy and new ideas to people, most of whom don't know who to thank. Although she was a member of the chart-busting '60's folk group, the New Christy Minstrels, and was a founding member of LA's comedy powerhouse the Groundlings, she's spent most of her time empowering others from behind the scenes. In the '70's, if a producer needed a shot of a woman's hands handling playing cards, doing fancy shuffles and tricks, they called Tracy. Lots of credits buried in the final seconds of a film or TV show, but no face recognition. Then there are the thousands of hours of comedy she and her partner Jonathan Stark wrote for television, even winning an Emmy, yet we only saw her accepting the award and then she disappeared again- back to work. Finally, she and Stark sold an idea, and According to Jim was born, making Jim Belushi a weekly regular in living rooms and giving Tracy an opportunity she had begun to yearn for. The steady (though modest) income she gets from consulting on the show frees her to pursue music again on her own terms.
Tracy's song writing shows a depth and maturity that are rare, and she soothes some of the painful reality her songs express with truly amazing comedic timing and balance.
